President's Corner

Outgoing President - Shari Cassutt [email protected]  505-670-4982

It is with both a sigh of relief and a small tear in my eye that I write my last message to you as president. I have had a wonderful two years. Thank you all for the wonderful support you have shown and the many "thank yous" that I have received. I can't begin to tell you how much your friendship continues to mean to me. Now I turn this space over to Toni Robinson and the 2019/20 Board. I wish them short meetings, well attended events, and a balanced budget!

Discover New England

Patty Howland [email protected]

On May 8th “Discover New England” visited the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, CT.

Our next outing will be ...

A Day in the “French” Countryside!
Tour of Lavender Pond Farm
Lunch at Chamard Vineyards
Thursday, June 27th, 8:30 - approx. 3:30
Cost: approx. $10 plus lunch (wine tasting $11)
Limited to 14 people

Come see and smell the 10,000 lavender plants in bloom at beautiful 25-acre Lavender Pond Farm. Hear tales of how the farm was born with the simple purpose of “doing their small part to make the world a more beautiful place”.  Stroll around the pond and see the covered bridge. Then hop on the Lavender Express for a train tour of the property. Our group will receive 10% off in the farm shoppe with live plants and a bevy of lavender-themed items.

Lunch will be at Chamard Vineyards, among the most beautiful and traditional of New England wineries. The 40-acre property has 20 acres of established vineyards, hand-tended in the European tradition to produce superior Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Pinot Noir. We will have lunch in the French-inspired farm to table bistro (separate checks). Wine tastings are available for $11.

Contact Patty at [email protected] or 860-470-7771 if you are interested. Since this is limited to 14 people, we will require a $10 deposit to reserve your spot. Let us know if you would drive others, prefer to ride or will drive on your own.

Traditionally, Wine and Women hosts a June gathering which includes the option of bringing a guest.  For example, a spouse, significant other, or a friend that might enjoy the evening.  This year we are combining our June activity with SNN Come for Cocktails activity group.

The gathering will be held on Saturday, June 1st at  7:00 pm, at the home of Holly and Shaun Murphy, 312 Old Farms Rd, Simsbury CT  06070.  Please bring an appetizer or dessert, and a beverage to share with the group.

You can RSVP to the Murphys by replying to: [email protected] by Tuesday, May 28th or sooner.  If you are a joint member with Come for Cocktails and have already RSVP’d to Holly, it is not necessary to RSVP again.

Many thanks to everyone who volunteered to open their home to our group this year!  Enjoy the summer and we’ll see you in the fall.
